Who We Are
The Benevolence Committee of IBEW Local 60 exists to support our brothers and sisters when they need it most.
We are a member-driven group focused on providing assistance, resources, and support to union members and their families facing hardship. Whether the need is financial, personal, or situational, our goal is simple:
No member should have to face difficult times alone.
Why We Exist
The committee was formed in November 2024 out of a shared recognition that there were gaps—moments where members needed help, but existing systems didn’t fully cover the need.
Rather than wait for solutions, members came together and asked:
“What can we do for each other?”
Since then, the Benevolence Committee has grown into an organized effort built on accountability, transparency, and action.
What We Do
We support members in several ways:
- Direct Assistance
Providing financial support when appropriate and sustainable - Resource Connection
Connecting members with community services, support programs, and assistance networks - Fundraising & Events
Organizing events and initiatives to build a sustainable fund for helping others - Peer Support
Expanding into mental health and peer support services for members
How We Operate
We are committed to doing this work the right way:
- Decisions are made collectively
- Requests for assistance follow a structured intake process
- Funds are managed responsibly and transparently
- Meeting minutes are recorded and made available for review
We believe that help should be given with both compassion and accountability.
Where We Are Today
In less than a year, the committee has grown from an idea into an active, working system:
- Established leadership and structure
- Built and managed a dedicated fund
- Created fundraising programs and events
- Developed processes for reviewing and responding to assistance requests
- Expanded into broader support services for members
We continue to grow and improve with every meeting, every event, and every member who steps forward to help.
